What’s Ikigai about?
Having only recently discovered the concept, no claims of expertise will be made here. An idea native to Japan, Ikigai means a “reason for being” or “something that makes life worth living”.
This construct that is Ikigai resonates as particularly useful in approaching the various existential challenges as well as opportunities inherent to modernity. Ikigai seems a little something like an independently born, ancient hack to the achievement of Abe Maslow’s so called Self-Actualization. In today’s propitious climate of E-commerce and Alt-Media, Ikigai feels like a great addition to popular discourse.
